Dear Parents,
As many of you have already heard, we have had a wonderful first full day of school together. This morning, the students were excited to start their day and spend some time getting to know me.
To start the day we spent time on classroom routine and expectations. When Specials ended, we dove straight into the curriculum. Although we had a great math lesson where we learned about fractions and began a News Writing Unit during our Writing Block, my favorite part of the day was Reading.
During the Reading Block, we began a new read aloud, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. As a class, we will be studying Historical Fiction. Students absorbed teaching points during the mini-lesson, talked respectfully with their partners, and eagerly transitioned to do the reading work independently.
Thank you for all you do as parents to encourage your students. The students had many transitions during the Fall Semester. I am very impressed with their resilience and I am excited to get back to teaching tomorrow. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Sincerely,
Chris Bruff
