The Paper Airplane Guy came to Bowman to share engineering, technology, and design. John Collins, has been around the globe sharing his love of paper airplanes. He has been seen on Conan O’Brian and he holds the World Record for the longest paper airplane thrown.
Students learned every object has a center of gravity it spins around. Even the Earth! Students learned to manipulate paper into different shapes. Surface area is important to paper airplanes. Air pushes the airplanes further through distances. The more surface area an airplane has, the more the plane will glide through the air. John Collins best demonstrated an airplane great surface area with his Hexagonal Paper Airplane. With less surface area, the airplane will dart through the air faster.
Student Impressions
Students love, Love, LOVED learning about paper airplanes. Check out the pictures and the video below.
That is such a great event Bowman sponsored, to combine play, fun with technology. Two thumbs up!
