Harry Potter Book Club Session 18

Friday afternoon, Mrs. Russell was our guest teacher for the Harry Potter Book Club. We debated Harry’s isolation at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. We continued to share ideas about Harry and his loneliness. We also talked from the point-of-view of Hogwarts students. The Slytherins felt Harry was pompous and deserved to feel alone. Ravenclaw thought Harry needed to follow the rules and deserved the punishments. Hufflepuff was split because of Ernie McMillan who believed in Harry while others felt Harry was responsible for Cedric Diggory’s death. The only house that seemed to be on board with Harry and his loneliness was Gryffindor. However, most Gryffindors felt they needed to remain neutral. Seamus Finnegan and the Weasley’s showed the variety of views regarding Harry Potter.

If you did not receive a handout at the end of last week, check out the graphic organizer for the upcoming book club meeting.

Check out our latest activity. Create your own character profile, it’s worth up to 50 points. Be sure to clearly create a character, give at least 3 important quotes, and describe the character.
