Harry Potter Book Club Session 19 & 20

We are nearing the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. As Harry ends his fifth year at Hogwarts, we have discussed a range of topics.

  • Isolation
  • Trust your friends.
  • Tell the truth.
  • Have integrity.
  • Stand up to bullies.
  • Treat everyone with respect.

For the final session of The Order of the Phoenix, be sure to finish the book. If you haven’t finished, that is okay. We will do our best not to spoil the good parts. If you did not receive a handout at the end of last week, check out the graphic organizer for the upcoming book club meeting.

Check out our latest activity. Create your own character pin, it’s worth up to 50 points.

Want to Earn House Cup Points?

  • Check out the link and directions to create your own folded Marauder’s Map. I will take one completed map per house. This is an opportunity to earn up to 100 points for your house. Add color to your Marauder’s Map for more points.
  • In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, we discussed Dementors, Boggarts, the Grim, and Divination Class. Be sure to complete the graphic organizer for a chance to earn your house 20 points.
  • Make a Whomping Willow (each member of the house can earn 10 points if completed and handed to Mr. Bruff in room 30).
  • Create a scene using Scratch or Scratch Jr. Show it to either Mrs. Loof or Mr. Bruff to earn up to 80 points for your house.
  • Create a Goblet of Fire. See Mr. Bruff if you need your egg hot glued to the wooden dowel. Personally hand it in for a chance to earn 20 points for your house.
  • Wear or bring anything Harry Potter related into school to earn up to 20 points for your house.
  • Create an illustration based on a theme from The Harry Potter Series for a chance to earn 15 points for your house.
  • Create a portrait that would hang in Hogwarts. Be sure your portrait has meaningful color. Handing in your portrait is worth up to 25 points if you are in Mr. Bruff’s class, and up to 35 points if you are in any other fourth-grade class.
  • Create your own character profile, it’s worth up to 50 points. Be sure to clearly create a character, give at least 3 important quotes, and describe the character.
