Monday morning, Brufftopians shared their civilization projects with parents. Students shared a wide range of topics. They explained origin stories of their civilizations, flags, monuments, artifacts, writing samples, numbering systems, maps, and many more pieces.
By the end of the event, every Brufftopian felt parents had a better understanding of the many unique student created civilizations. Each project showcased what students learned during the school year.
- Students created maps with land features they studied in Social Studies.
- Students created writing samples and narrative stories they learned during Writing.
- Students created a numbering system, math connection.
- Students created art, artifacts, flags, etc. that relate to concepts in Art.
- Students created staple food crops to connect with Science.
Like civilizations in the real world, the student’s civilizations had many different pieces. Managing each area and completing the project in a few weeks was a major accomplishment. Michael said, “I thought it (the civilization project) was pretty fun.”

A parent asked Daniel, “Do you have a staple food crop?” Asked Michael, “What was your favorite part of the project? It was coming up with the idea and coming up with the name.”
