Some of you want to read this summer, that’s awesome. I want to read this summer too. If you’d like to informally join the summer book group here’s what you need to know:
Need to know Information
- We’ll be reading 1 book at a time,
- Each Friday I’ll post a question for participants to answer in the comments section of the blog,
- Each Friday I’ll give a reading goal (page numbers to read, chapters to read and things to think about while reading) for the next week, and
- Finally, an update on the most frequent participants.
Every time a student that takes part in the summer reading challenge, they’ll be entered into a book give away. One student will be chosen to receive a book from the book fair in the fall. Each quality response in the challenge means another submission into the book give away.
Let’s Get it Started
The first book in the Summer Reading Challenge is: The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill. Read up to (stop when you get to) chapter 6. Think about each character and what it is they want, what drives them, what motivates them, think about what isn’t being said about them that should be said.
No worries if you’ve already read the book. Brush up on it again by rereading the assigned parts and comment this upcoming Friday. Click to sign in and reserve a copy through Cary Memorial Library. If you’re interested in reading another book, check out the recommended Mr. Bruff’s Recommended Books or submit your own suggestion for a book.
