Civilization Project Update

Hi Parents,

Students are continuing to make progress with their civilization project. Continue to check in with your student to make sure they are completing each required component.

The best way to support your child is to look at the Sample Schedule I provided. For example, today’s task says “Artifact.” In school, students were taught how to create different symbols and artifacts an archeologist would find from an ancient civilization.

To plan ahead for the long weekend (no school on Monday), I reviewed land features with students. We began examining the different features of the US regions and applied our learning to the island of Brufftopia (from the class read aloud). Students were then encouraged to create their own map based on their civilization. Many students are thinking their civilization will take place on an island but that is not mandated.

Finally, I have uploaded all of the civilization project files to Google Classroom. This way, if students want to type their work, they can do so without changing the document for everyone in the class. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Need to Know Information:

  • Check in with your student regularly,
  • Use the Sample Schedule to manage time,
  • Go to Google Classroom for class handouts, and
  • Contact me if you have questions.
  • Due date: Friday, June 2nd

Sincerely,

Mr. Bruff
