Mrs. Rogers, one of the music teachers in Bowman, is very passionate about her job. She loves teaching music because she thinks that her students are creative and very talented.
In Mrs. Rogers opinion, teaching music to kids is hard work. Her students learn in a variety of different ways, so she can’t teach them all the same. She tries her best to give students opportunities to find their musical talents. A lot of students have different talents that they need to uncover.
Before she starts the day, preparation is very important. Mrs Rogers needs to think about what all the classes doing in music, and prepare for their “visit” to the music room. But the materials the classes need are not all that she needs to prepare. Learning goals are another key thing. All classes have something that they are working to get done by the end of music, and Mrs. Rogers needs to monitor that.
In music, students do have the chance to use different and unique instruments, such as the xylophone, the triangle, and much more. “Older students are responsible, and younger students can be responsible.” Mrs. Rogers commented in the interview. In other words, lower grade levels need a little more supervision when using instruments.
But overall, Mrs. Rogers finds ways to make students learn and make students have fun in the 30 minutes she gets with them!
