Curriculum Night came and went quickly. I had a chance to shake hands with almost every parent that walked into the classroom. For those who missed all of the festivities or just the fireworks at the end of the presentation, see the Power Point Slideshow below.
CURRICULUM NIGHT POWERPOINT
If you did not get a chance to write a response on the blank white card, you’ve got some work to do. Parents were asked, “Take some time to think about what you will do to encourage a growth mindset this year. How are you going to foster your child’s growth mindset? If you could write them a message they will read on the last day of school, what would you like them to read? Write that message!”
If you are unsure what a growth mindset is, please watch the 3-minute video. Please answer the question above.
There are a few different options you can take to ensure I receive your response. You can email me your response, write it on a piece of paper and send it into school with your child, or leave a response on the Contact Page.
Students will read the responses their parents wrote on the last day of school. This is a way for you to make a commitment to support your child’s growth mindset this school year.
I’d like every student to have a parent pledge to be opened on the last day of school. For those parents who stayed until the end, remember your pledge you made to your child.
Finally, I’d like to leave you with a take away. If you remember nothing from my lengthy presentation or post, please remember this: I need parents and students to buy into the idea that the process is more important that arriving at the correct answer.
Let’s continue on our path towards a great year!
