This week Brufftopians are investigating Earth’s materials. They have learned Earth’s materials include rocks, water, sand, decayed plants, gold, and salt. During the most recent science lesson, Brufftopians entered small groups to feel, smell, and test 7 different minerals.
Science Discovery
Earlier in the day Brufftopians learned the importance of being flexible with their thinking. The fourth grade students read a case study regarding sand. The entire class took part in a debate answering the question, “Where does sand came from?” Heidi said, “You should learn to be flexible on things if you want to learn new things.”
After recess, students took what they learned from the previous science lesson and applied their flexibility to their investigation. Within table groups, Brufftopians observed Earth’s materials by touching, smelling and comparing substances in their bucket. Jaxie said, “I learned minerals are materials of the Earth.”
