Social Issues Reading Unit

This week, Brufftopians began the Social Issues Reading Unit. In class, students will be reading books, studying articles, and writing about themes regarding power, relationships and social issues. Students will be pushed to empathize, read critically and interpret texts along with “reading” their world to inform the way they live their lives.

Throughout the unit, students will have multiple ways to take part in the social issues reading unit. Brufftopians will:

  • Take part in the read aloud of The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann.
  • Read in book clubs of 3-5 students.
  • Read independent books for more in depth discovery.
