Dear Parents/Guardians,
At the end of these two short weeks, I have had the pleasure to get to know some things about your child. I’ve learned about the different dynamics, sizes of your families, pets and even some of your favorite restaurants. Throughout the year I will get to know them even more and I am really looking forward to it.
As your child gets older, it may be difficult to hear about what they are doing in school. Every Friday afternoon your son or daughter should come home with a “This week I…” notebook. In the notebook your child will be writing to you about something they learned, enjoyed doing, and/or something they are currently learning about. Having the “This week I…” notebook will ensure that you hear what your child has been up to in school over the past week.
Please take the time to read it and respond. Your child’s learning is extremely important to me and it will mean so much to them when you take an interest in it too.
When you respond by writing a quick little note back, your child will get a chance to see that you’re interested in what they are doing at school, you can ask questions that they will be able to answer or simply leave an encouraging note to help them through any difficulty.
When I receive the notebook on Monday morning, I will look into the notebook to see that a parent has written back. Each time a parent writes, I will add a sticker to the front of the notebook.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and I look forward to meeting you at the open house later this month.
Sincerely,
Mr. Chris Bruff
