The civilization project is coming to a fast close. Many students are putting their final touches to their work. They are finding innovative ways to include writing samples.
The best way for students to include a writing sample of their civilization is for students to describe the symbolism of their monument. Earlier this year students watched a Power Point regarding the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
What Students Learned in the Power Point
- When the statue was created.
- Where it is located.
- Why it was built.
- What it represents.
- Symbolism of the statues feet, crown, flame, clothing, and name.
Although students will not be creating Power Point slideshows, they are still able to create explanations for their monuments. Using the writing system from the civilization to explain their monument would be a great way to showcase student creativity.
